BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- A Bruneian drag race participant passed away on Saturday afternoon following an accident during the Sandakan Drag Battle R3 2024 in Malaysia, according to Brunei media Borneo Bulletin on Sunday.

Malaysia's Acting Sandakan District Police Chief Superintendent K. Ramasamy said: "The victim was trapped in the vehicle he was driving and was extricated by the fire department."

"He sustained serious injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead at 5:25 p.m.," said K. Ramasamy.

The case is being investigated and classified as a sudden death report, and the drag race competition has been canceled, according to Borneo Bulletin. Enditem
