PRAGUE, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Fifteen people were injured in an apartment fire in the northwestern Czech region of Usti nad Labem, local firefighters said on Monday.

The fire broke out in Cerncice early in the morning, prompting the regional fire rescue service to dispatch four firefighting units to the scene.

"Fifteen people were injured in the fire, one of whom suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital," the fire rescue service stated on the social media platform X.

Firefighters also rescued another eight people from the apartment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Enditem
