JERUSALEM, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Israel unveiled its first domestically built quantum computer on Monday, saying the advancements marked a strategic knowledge foundation for the country and will support defense and civilian applications.
The new Israeli 20-qubit quantum computer was jointly developed by the state-run company Israel Aerospace Industries, the Israel Innovation Authority, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The three institutes said in a statement that collaboration established a superconductor-based quantum computer infrastructure alongside a robust development and integration environment.
The Israeli company Quantum QHIPU's lab at the Hebrew University will focus on designing, simulating, integrating, and adapting practical applications for the new quantum computer, including collaborations with companies and research institutes worldwide, according to the statement.
In March 2022, the Weizmann Institute of Science unveiled the first Israeli quantum computer, a 5-qubit machine designed for internal academic use. Enditem
