BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-six families affected by fire, house collapse, and strong wind incidents in Brunei have received financial assistance from the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation, local media reported on Tuesday.

According to local daily Borneo Bulletin, a total of 49,500 Brunei dollars (36,600 U.S. dollars) in financial aid was distributed during a ceremony at the multipurpose hall of the foundation complex in Brunei.

Brunei is an oil-rich country located in the northern part of Borneo Island, with a population of 340,000 citizens and a high level of social welfare. Enditem
