Urgent: Japanese space startup aborts satellite launch attempt minutes after liftoff

TOKYO, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Japanese startup Space One's Kairos rocket has suffered a failure after launch in western Japan, the public broadcaster NHK reported Wednesday.

The 18-meter-long solid-fuel Kairos No. 2 rocket lifted off from Space Port Kii in Kushimoto, Wakayama prefecture, the country's first private-sector launch pad.
