KABUL, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan power company, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), has renewed its agreement with Uzbekistan to import electricity from the neighboring country in the year 2025, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Tuesday.

In line with the renewal of the agreement signed by Abdul Bari Omar, managing director of DABS, and his Uzbek counterpart, Tashkent would continue to export power to power-strapped Afghanistan throughout 2025, the state-owned media outlet said.

In a similar agreement renewed in early December, Turkmenistan agreed to export electricity to Afghanistan in 2025.

Afghanistan reportedly produces around 300 megawatts of power from domestic sources and imports 620 megawatts annually from the neighboring countries of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Iran. Enditem
