LIBREVILLE, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- The authorities of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) on Wednesday announced the lifting of the curfew to allow the population to celebrate the end-of-year festivities.
This announcement was made public by Air Division General Felicien Koyi, in his capacity as chief of staff of the Ministry of National Defense, during a broadcast on national television.
"The curfew is lifted as of Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, until further notice, across the entire national territory," declared General Koyi. "The purpose of this decision is to enable families to enjoy the end-of-year festivities -- a moment of communion and a significant time for the nation."
"This lifting reflects the determination of the highest authorities, particularly that of the President of the Transition Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, to ease restrictions and allow the population to fully enjoy this festive period," said General Koyi.
Gabon has been under a curfew since the military takeover by the CTRI on Aug. 30, 2023. Enditem
