KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Economists have predicted that the Malaysian ringgit will strengthen against the U.S. dollar next year, driven by a narrowing interest rate differential and stable economic fundamentals.
CGS International said in a recent report that it expected ringgit to appreciate from 4.40 per U.S. dollar at the end of 2024 to 4.25 per dollar by the close of 2025.
"The U.S. dollar could see support from safe-haven demand amid heightened uncertainties. However, the narrowing rate differential favoring Malaysia is likely to bolster ringgit," the research house noted.
MIDF Research echoed this sentiment, projecting ringgit to end 2025 at 4.03 versus dollar, compared to 4.30 versus dollar at the end of 2024. Enditem
