BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Brunei is currently experiencing the northeast monsoon, which typically lasts until late March 2025, according to a statement from the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) on Thursday.

According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin, during the first half of the northeast monsoon, the country usually experiences unstable weather conditions, with occasional heavy showers or thundershowers, particularly from night to early morning.

During the second half of the northeast monsoon, atmospheric conditions tend to become more stable with reduced rainfall activity, according to the report.

There is also a risk of landslides, fallen trees, and flying roofs during heavy showers and gusty conditions. Rough sea conditions pose dangers to small boat operations, sea recreational activities, and water sports, said the BDMD.

Brunei is a Southeast Asian country located in the northern part of Borneo Island. The Sultanate lies in the tropical region, and its climate is significantly influenced by the monsoons each year. Enditem
