KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's e-commerce income rose 4 percent year on year to 918.2 billion ringgit (203.82 billion U.S. dollars) in the first nine months of 2024, official data showed Thursday.
The third quarter saw a slight decline of 0.6 percent to 307.9 billion ringgit compared to the second quarter, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.
"Despite this minor decrease, e-commerce remains a vital pillar of Malaysia's economic landscape," the DOSM said.
According to the DOSM, the highest income was achieved in the second quarter of 2024 at 309.8 billion ringgit.
"The widespread adoption of information and communications technology across businesses and households further strengthens Malaysia's position in the global digital landscape, highlighting the country's potential for continued innovation and growth in the digital economy," the DOSM said.
