GAZA -- At least 20 Palestinians were killed in Israeli bombings targeting two schools sheltering displaced civilians and a house in eastern Gaza City, Palestinian sources said on Thursday.
Local sources and eyewitnesses reported that Israeli aircraft carried out strikes on the Al-Karama and Sha'ban Al-Rayes schools, which were serving as shelters for displaced civilians, as well as a residential house in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. MAPUTO -- The death toll from Cyclone Chido in Mozambique has climbed to 73, with 543 individuals reported injured, the country's disaster relief agency announced on Thursday.

CAIRO -- Seven people were killed on Thursday when a fire broke out in a candle workshop in the city of Shubra El-Kheima in Egypt's Qalyubia governorate, north of the capital Cairo, official media reported.

ABUJA -- The death toll from a stampede at a children's carnival organized in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State in southwestern Nigeria, has risen to 35, police said Thursday.
