BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's Safety, Health and Environment National Authority is urging employers and workers to prioritize safety measures to prevent fall-related fatalities in the workplace, local media reported on Friday.

According to local daily Borneo Bulletin, falls from height have accounted for nearly half of all workplace fatalities in Brunei since 2013, with a total of 79 workers losing their lives during this period.

Brunei recorded four tragic workplace deaths in 2024. This alarming trend underscores the urgent need for stricter safety protocols, particularly in high-risk industries like construction, according to the newspaper.

Brunei's Safety, Health and Environment National Authority has demanded that all employers, occupiers, and principals must take immediate actions to implement comprehensive safe work practices to protect their workers from fall-related fatalities. Enditem
