KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's inflation rose 1.8 percent in November year on year with the index points standing at 133.3, official data showed Friday.

The increase of inflation in November was driven by a slower growth in the main groups of health (1.2 percent) and transport (0.4 percent), the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.

Meanwhile, inflation for food and beverages, which contributes 29.8 percent of the total consumer price index (CPI) weight, increased at a higher rate of 2.6 percent.

The overall monthly inflation for November decreased 0.1 percent as against October. This is the first decline since August 2021.

Meanwhile, core inflation increased at the same rate at 1.8 percent in November as compared to October. Enditem
