BUDAPEST, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- The transportation of Russian crude oil to Hungary via the Friendship Pipeline has resumed, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto said Sunday.

Hungary's energy supply is "secure," Szijjarto wrote on his Facebook page.

The Friendship Pipeline had been halting the flow of Russian and Kazakh crude oil to Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Germany since Thursday. According to Hungarian media reports, the stoppage was caused by a technical issue at a Russian pumping station.

The Friendship Pipeline is one of the largest-capacity oil pipelines in the world, capable of transporting 2 million barrels per day.

It remains the last significant connection between Russian oil fields and European refineries after European Union countries reduced their dependence on Russian crude oil and gas. Enditem
