BAGHDAD, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani stressed on Monday the importance of unifying Arab efforts to support the Syrian people during the country's transitional process.

Al-Sudani made the remarks in a phone call with the President of the United Arab Emirate Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which they also discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, according to a statement from al-Sudani's media office.

On regional developments, Al-Sudani reiterated Iraq's commitment to peace and stability initiatives, highlighting the necessity of intensifying efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza, ending the "aggression" against the Palestinian people, preventing further escalation of conflict in the region, and consolidating the ceasefire in Lebanon, it said.
