DAMASCUS -- Ahmed al-Sharaa, head of Syria's de facto governing group and commander of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), met here with other Syrian military faction chiefs on Tuesday, during which they agreed to dissolve all factions and merge them under a unified defense ministry, Syria's state news agency SANA said in a statement.

DAR ES SALAAM -- The World Food Program (WFP) said on Tuesday preparations were underway to distribute 5,000 energy-efficient cooking stoves to Tanzanian refugee hosting communities in the western region of Kigoma.

The WFP said in a statement the distribution of the stoves was designed to reduce emissions, improve fuel efficiency, and ease the strain on local resources around refugee camps. (Tanzania-WFP-Energy)

JAKARTA -- The Indonesian government plans to purchase more rice from farmers in 2025 to enhance their welfare and ensure food security, a minister said on Monday.

RAMALLAH -- Two Palestinians, including a woman, were killed on Tuesday in Israeli bombing and gunfire on Tulkarm refugee camp in the northern West Bank, according to Palestinian sources.
