MANILA -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said on Tuesday it has provided 5 million U.S. dollars in contingent disaster financing to support emergency relief efforts in Vanuatu following a 7.3-magnitude earthquake that struck the capital, Port Vila, on Dec. 17.

The grant came from the fifth phase of the Pacific Disaster Resilience Program, which also supported progress in strengthening the country's capacity to manage and reduce disaster risks. (Vanuatu-Aid)

SEOUL -- South Korea's main liberal opposition party said Tuesday it will wait until Thursday to introduce an impeachment motion against the country's acting president, according to the latest report by the Yonhap news agency.

ISLAMABAD -- A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight enroute from Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi to Islamabad made an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on Tuesday due to a technical fault, the PIA spokesperson said.

The issue was detected in the aircraft's landing gear, which failed to retract after takeoff, prompting the captain to contact the control tower and request an emergency return to Karachi, the spokesperson said. (Pakistan-Emergency landing)
