KABUL, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Unknown armed men attacked the car of a local translator of the Indian consulate in Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, injuring the translator and killing his guard, a local media outlet reported.

Tolonews reported the incident Wednesday citing the provincial police spokesman Sayed Tayeb Hamad. The official noted that efforts are underway to arrest those involved in this crime.

India reportedly closed its consulate in Jalalabad city in 2020 but retained some local staff to safeguard the mission building. Enditem
