RAMALLAH, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian security officer was killed on Wednesday in clashes with Palestinian gunmen in Jenin, as a large-scale security operation to regain control of the camp in the northern West Bank continues.
"Captain Hassan Abdullah, a member of the General Intelligence Service, died from his wounds he sustained a few days ago after being targeted by gunfire by outlaws while performing his national duty in the Jenin camp," Anwar Rajab, spokesperson for the Palestinian security forces, said in a press statement.
Rajab stressed that the security forces "will continue to impose order and eliminate chaos," calling on all Palestinians to stand "in one line with the security forces and provide full support and cooperation in pursuing these criminals."
This has brought the number of security forces killed by gunmen in Jenin during this operation to three.
The Palestinian security forces have launched a large-scale security campaign in Jenin camp since mid-December to crack down on lawbreakers to ensure public security. Enditem
