COLOMBO -- The Maldives has recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals in a single year in 2024, PSM News, the official State Media of the Maldives, said on Wednesday.

BANGKOK -- Thailand is set to roll out a nationwide implementation of its upgraded universal health coverage program from January, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra announced on Wednesday.

NEW DELHI -- At least four persons, including a child, died and 26 were injured when a bus fell into a deep gorge in India's northern hilly state of Uttarakhand on Wednesday, confirmed a cop over the phone.
The mishap occurred in the Bhimtal area of Nainital district of the state, as the bus driver took a sharp turn to avoid a car coming from the opposite direction, added the cop. (India-Bus Mishap)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's banking and financial institutions had reported slow growth in lending during the first 10 months of 2024, said a National Bank of Cambodia (NBC)'s news release on Wednesday.
Outstanding loans increased by 2.2 percent year-on-year to 60.9 billion U.S. dollars by October this year, the news release said, adding that the growth was primarily driven by the increase in lending to key sectors, including wholesale and retail trade, construction, real estate, agriculture, manufacturing, hotels, and restaurants among others.
