JAKARTA, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian security authorities have been deploying personnel to ensure the safety of Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations.

Indonesian police and soldiers are jointly conducting the "Candle Operation," which began on Dec. 21 and will conclude on Jan. 2, to ensure security during the holiday season.

This year, a total of 141,443 personnel from both police and military forces have been mobilized to secure the festivities.

According to National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, these personnel have been stationed at 61,452 locations across the country, and 2,794 security posts have been established nationwide.

"The locations to be secured include churches, shopping malls, airports, bus terminals, train stations, and venues hosting New Year's Eve celebrations," Prabowo said. Enditem
