BEIRUT, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib emphasized Thursday his country's adherence to Syria's unity and its aspiration to build the "best relations" with Syria.

Bou Habib made the remarks in a phone call with Syria's interim Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shibani, according to a statement by the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants on social media platform X.

In the statement, Bou Habib underscored his country's support for "Syria's unity, territorial integrity, independence, and the right of its people to self-determination," expressing "his desire to visit Syria."

The two sides also agreed to hold a meeting early next year to discuss common issues and matters. Enditem
