BELGRADE, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Serbia's Ministry of Defense announced significant upgrades to the armed forces in 2025 on Thursday, following a year of major investments in defense systems.
According to the ministry, over 70 new weapons and military systems were introduced in 2024, with 38 developed domestically in collaboration with the Military Technical Institute and local defense industry.
The ministry highlighted key advancements in air defense, modernized armored vehicles and artillery systems. Improvements in military telecommunications and data infrastructure were also emphasized.
The ministry noted ongoing procurement efforts, such as acquiring Rafale multirole aircraft, which are expected to significantly improve airspace protection once operational.
These upgrades, according to the ministry, aim to bolster Serbia's defense capabilities and operational readiness, ensuring the military is prepared to address emerging security challenges. Enditem
