GAZA, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Five staff members of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip were killed on Thursday due to Israeli attacks on the hospital, the Palestinian official news agency WAFA reported.
A pediatrician, a laboratory specialist, two paramedics, and a maintenance specialist were killed in the attacks, according to WAFA.
The Israeli army on Thursday continued its tight siege of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahia, where 91 patients are present, WAFA added.
The Israeli army has not commented on the incident.
Israel has been conducting a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and about 250 taken hostage.
The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 45,399, the Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Thursday. Enditem
