SANAA, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi group said in a statement on Saturday that it was behind an overnight long-range rocket attack on Israel, which it said was targeting the Nevatim Air Base in southern Israel.
"We targeted the Nevatim Air Base in Negev," Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said in a televised statement aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV.
"The operation was carried out with a hypersonic ballistic missile ... the hit was accurate," he claimed, whereas the Israeli army said the "projectile launched from Yemen was intercepted before crossing into Israeli territory."
The Houthi spokesman vowed that his group would continue to launch attacks against Israel until "aggression on Gaza stops and siege is lifted."
The Houthi group has launched frequent rocket attacks on Israel this month, prompting Israel to strike vital Houthi infrastructure on Thursday and Friday, including power stations, Sanaa International Airport, and military sites. Enditem
