ISLAMABAD, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- One Pakistani soldier was killed and six others injured in an exchange of fire between Afghan and Pakistani security forces at a check post in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, official sources said.
The confrontation began at approximately 10:00 a.m. local time, involving the use of heavy and light weaponry at the check post in Upper Kurram district along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the sources told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Authorities in Islamabad have not yet released an official statement on the incident.
