DAMASCUS, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- A powerful explosion on Sunday rocked a former Syrian government's weapons depot near the Adra Industrial City in the northeast of the capital Damascus, killing at least two people, according to the war monitor Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
Meanwhile, local Sham FM radio confirmed the incident and said the casualties resulted from what is believed to be an Israeli attack.
An online video emerged showing extensive damage and bodies on the ground amid widespread destruction within the facility.
The explosion follows a series of reported Israeli raids against former government-linked sites, as Syria's new administration consolidates power after the collapse of the previous government on Dec. 8. Enditem
