DAMASCUS -- Ahmed al-Sharaa, head of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Syria's de facto leader, gave his most comprehensive remarks yet on Sunday about how he plans to steer the country through its current transition.

Speaking to Saudi state-owned broadcaster Al Arabiya, al-Sharaa discussed various issues, from maintaining ties with Russia to negotiating with Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria. (Syria-Transition-Ties)

BEIRUT -- At least 45 people have been killed between Nov. 27 and Dec. 22 in Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement, according to a source from the Lebanese army on Sunday.

During the period, the Israeli army also arrested 17 people from border towns, all of whom were civilians working in agriculture and livestock, the source said on condition of anonymity. (Lebanon-Israel-Ceasefire Violation)

JERUSALEM -- Fighters in the Gaza Strip fired about five rockets at southern Israel on Sunday afternoon, the Israeli military said.

DUBAI -- A light aircraft from an aviation club crashed into the sea off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah, the northernmost emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Sunday, killing the pilot and co-pilot, according to an official source.

The General Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the incident and announced that its Air Accidents Investigation Section has been alerted and is currently working with relevant authorities to determine the cause of the crash. (UAE-Aircraft-Crash) Enditem
