ISTANBUL, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police detained 30 Islamic State (IS)-linked suspects here on Monday, thwarting potential terror attacks planned by them, according to the state-run Anadolu agency.
The operation followed the issuance of detention warrants by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for 46 suspects believed to be capable of carrying out terrorist attacks in Türkiye on behalf of IS.
During the operation, many digital materials were seized, and efforts are ongoing to capture the other suspects identified, Anadolu reported.
Türkiye designated IS a terrorist organization in 2013 and has been targeted by the group in several attacks. Ankara has conducted counter-terrorism operations both domestically and abroad in response. Enditem
