DAMASCUS, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- A convoy of 60 trucks from the U.S.-led coalition entered northeastern Syria on Monday, carrying weapons and logistical supplies to support allied forces, Al-Arabiya TV reported.

The convoy, which crossed from Iraq via the al-Waleed border crossing, was said to be heading toward coalition bases in Syria's northeastern al-Hassakeh province and the eastern Deir al-Zour province, the report said.

The reinforcements come amid ongoing clashes between the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Turkish-aligned factions in the region.

According to Al-Arabiya, the coalition has dispatched six convoys, totaling approximately 210 trucks, since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government on Dec. 8. Monday's deployment, the largest since that date, coincided with expanded U.S. military movements, including armored vehicles and troops, in Deir al-Zour, Raqqa, and the city of Kobani.

U.S. officials, who recently met with Ahmad al-Sharaa, Syria's de facto leader, have reportedly warned that remnants of Islamic State could exploit the political vacuum and instability to stage attacks.

The officials also urged restraint from Türkiye, which has repeatedly threatened Kurdish forces in Syria. Ankara insists the SDF must disarm to avoid further hostilities, according to the report. Enditem
