MANILA, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Two unidentified gunmen shot dead a police intelligence officer and wounded three other people in Sultan Kudarat province in the southern Philippines, local police said Tuesday.

Sultan Kudarat police director Colonel Bernard Lao said the victim died on the spot from gunshot wounds in the head and body on Monday night.

Lao said the victim was sitting at a small village store while conducting surveillance with other civilian agents when attacked by the gunmen.

The three wounded civilian agents were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Enditem
