HANOI, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's footwear and leather industry is poised to achieve 26-27 billion U.S. dollars in exports in 2024, marking a 3-billion-dollar increase from the previous year, Vietnam News cited the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association as saying on Tuesday.

North America led Vietnam's export destinations, accounting for 41.4 percent of footwear and 47 percent of handbag exports, followed by the European Union, with 29.5 percent and 25.4 percent, respectively, according to the association.

Vietnam's 16 key markets, including the United States, China, Japan, Belgium, the Netherlands, Britain, South Korea, Canada, France, Spain, Italy and Australia, represented over 88.4 percent of the total export turnover.

Phan Thi Thanh Xuan, the association's vice chairwoman and general secretary, said the industry showed a strong recovery since late 2023, with major firms securing contracts through mid-2025. Enditem
