ISLAMABAD, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistan Navy recently carried out a successful anti-narcotics operation in the north Arabian Sea, seizing a large quantity of illegal drugs, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday.

The ISPR, the media wing of the Pakistani military, said in a statement that the operation was conducted with the assistance of naval air assets.

Pakistan Navy Ship named Moawin intercepted a suspicious vessel and conducted a boarding operation, uncovering drugs concealed within hidden compartments of the vessel, said the ISPR.

According to the military, the seized narcotics are valued at approximately one million U.S. dollars in the international market, which were being smuggled to different international destinations.

"The Pakistan Navy remains vigilant and committed to preventing all forms of illegal activities in the maritime domain of the region," added the ISPR. Enditem
