Jeju Air CEO banned from leaving S. Korea

SEOUL, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Jeju Air CEO Kim E-Bae has been banned from leaving South Korea, local police announced Thursday.

Jeonnam National Police Agency, which is investigating the Jeju Airplane disaster, has banned two officials of Jeju Air, including Kim E-Bae, from leaving the country starting from Dec. 31, 2024.

The two officials were believed to be "important reference" when the police were investigating allegations of the plane crash accident.

The Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, to Muan airport in southwest South Korea crashed while landing without wheels, killing 179 people onboard with only two crew members survived. Enditem
