YANGON, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's rice and broken rice exports reached 1.7 million tons in the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2024-2025, state-run Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Friday.

The report said that Myanmar earned an estimated 804 million U.S. dollars from these exports during the eight-month period, from April to November last year.

Citing statistics from the Myanmar Rice Federation, the report said that Indonesia is the largest rice trading partner of Myanmar, importing over 480,000 tons during this period.

China is the second-largest importer of Myanmar rice, followed by Belgium and the Philippines, along with several other countries, it said.

In the 2023-24 fiscal year, Myanmar exported over 1.6 million tons of rice and broken rice, earning more than 845 million dollars. Enditem
