SYDNEY, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- A man has died and a woman has been injured in a jet ski crash in northern Australia.
Police in the state of Queensland said that the 56-year-old man and 60-year-old woman were riding on a jet ski on the Barron River near the city of Cairns, over 1,300 km north of Brisbane, when they crashed into mangroves at around 10:30 a.m. local time on Friday.
The riders, both locals, were thrown off the jet ski into the water.
Ambulance paramedics treated both at the scene where the man was declared deceased. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, police said.
Detectives from the forensic crash unit were investigating the accident. Queensland Police said a report would be prepared for the coroner. Enditem
