KABUL, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- A total of 58 development projects, valued at 6.4 million U.S. dollars, will be launched this year in east Afghanistan's Ghazni province, according to the provincial mayor Maulvi Mohammad Nabi Hamza.
In a statement reported by local media outlet Tolonews on Friday, Hamza outlined that the projects initiated include the construction of roads, canals, dams, and other infrastructure facilities in several districts of Ghazni province, funded by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and government budget.
These projects would improve the living conditions of thousands of residents in Ghazni province and would create job opportunities for more than 2,000 people, Hamza was quoted as saying.
The Afghan caretaker government plans to launch more development projects across the war-ravaged country to address economic challenges and create jobs. Enditem
