ALMATY, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reviewed the key outcomes of 2024 and outlined the domestic agenda for 2025 in an interview with a local newspaper on Friday.
Recalling his prediction during an interview a year ago that 2024 would be a defining year for Kazakhstan, Tokayev said, "So it happened," noting that his country laid the groundwork for its five-year development plan by initiating "systemic and even painful economic reforms."
"Many projects and initiatives have been implemented in this direction, and there will be even more," Tokayev said.
Tokayev also noted that despite geopolitical tensions, Kazakhstan has solidified its role on the international stage as a mediator fostering dialogue for peace, which positively impacts the country's security and sustainable economic growth.
The past year presented significant challenges to Kazakhstan, including external pressures and natural disasters. However, the country not only maintained control over the situation but also advanced its reform agenda, he said.
The president's interview at the beginning of a new year has become a political tradition in Kazakhstan. Enditem
