GAZA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Hamas announced on Friday that it had submitted a list of proposed names for a post-war management committee in Gaza to Egypt.
The proposed committee, aimed at temporarily managing Gaza affairs, is part of an Egyptian-led initiative supported by Arab and Islamic countries.
Hamas said the list includes individuals with national and professional expertise, selected in agreement with other Palestinian factions, independent figures, and activists.
The statement emphasized that the committee would operate under the authority of the Palestinian president and that Gaza is an integral part of Palestinian territory.
Hamas expressed hope that Fatah and the Palestinian Authority would cooperate in forming the committee through national consensus.
The movement reiterated its commitment to national unity and restoring the legitimacy of the Palestinian political system.
Fatah, however, has expressed concerns about the proposal, stating that any such committee would perpetuate the division between the West Bank and Gaza.
Fatah maintains that the Palestinian government operating in the West Bank is the only legitimate authority to manage Gaza. Enditem
