WARSAW -- A gala was held on Friday at the National Opera in Warsaw to mark Poland's inauguration as the presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU).

UNITED NATIONS -- UN humanitarians said on Friday that Israelis have ordered more relocating in besieged North Gaza because of impending attacks in retaliation for rocket fire into Israel.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the latest directive was for civilians in the Al-Bureij area of Deir al Balah governorate to move west. (UN-Gaza)

DAMASCUS -- Syria's interim defense ministry on Friday launched meetings with military leaders to begin the process of incorporating various rebel factions into its command, local media reported.
The move comes after the country's de facto leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, reached an agreement last month with rebel chiefs to dissolve all armed groups and consolidate them under a unified Defense Ministry. (Syria-Interim Government-Rebel Factions)

OTTAWA -- The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced on Friday a new measure to reduce the cost burden of removing inadmissible people from the country by sharply increasing the fees that individuals will have to pay if they want to return to Canada.
Individuals being removed from Canada are required to pay for their own travel costs. Costs are recovered by the Canadian government when an individual who was removed at the government's expense seeks to return to Canada, CBSA said in a news release. (Canada-Border-Removal) Enditem
