Sri Lanka's IRD collects highest-ever tax revenue in 2024

COLOMBO, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's Inland Revenue Department (IRD) succeeded in collecting the highest tax revenue in its history in 2024, Sepalika Chandrasekara, the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue, has told journalists.

The IRD managed to generate a total tax revenue of 1,958 billion rupees (about 6.7 billion U.S. dollars) in the year 2024, said the official on Friday.

This represents an increase of 392 billion rupees (about 1.33 billion dollars) in total tax revenue compared to the year 2023, she said. Enditem
