NEW DELHI, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Six people died and a few others were injured when a fire broke out inside a firecrackers manufacturing unit in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu on Saturday, confirmed a local cop over phone.

The incident occurred in the state's Virudhunagar district. The blast was suspected to have occurred during the mixing of chemicals.
