JAKARTA, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Karawang station on Indonesia's Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, locally known as Whoosh, has served 5,500 passengers in the first 10 days of operation between Dec. 24, 2024 and Jan. 2, 2025.

Eva Chairunisa, general manager corporate secretary of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC), highlighted the station's positive impact on public mobility and local economic activities. "In the first 10 days, daily passenger number ranged from 400 to 500, peaking at 777 passengers on Dec. 29, 2024," she said in a press release.

According to her, popular routes included Karawang-Padalarang (1,389 passengers), Padalarang-Karawang (996 passengers), and Halim-Karawang (896 passengers). Many passengers traveled to Bandung for tourism or for shopping trips to Karawang's premium outlets.

To enhance accessibility, Karawang station offers intermodal facilities, including conventional and online taxis and free shuttle buses to The Grand Outlet and Summarecon Villaggio Outlets for Whoosh ticket holders.

Currently, 20 out of 48 Whoosh schedules during the holiday season stop at Karawang station, offering convenient options for passengers. "With Karawang station, we aim to improve accessibility and provide a comfortable travel experience for all Whoosh passengers," she added. Enditem
