AMMAN, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Jordan said Sunday that it has sent a humanitarian aid convoy to Syria as part of its efforts to support the Syrian people.
"The step comes in light of Syria's delicate circumstances and affirms the brotherly Jordanian-Syrian relations," Jordan's state-run Petra news agency reported.
The convoy was sent by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, which coordinated with the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army to ensure the rapid and efficient delivery of aid to those in need, Petra quoted Hussein Al-Shibli, secretary-general of the charity organization, as saying.
According to Petra, the aid convoy includes 300 tons of basic relief materials, such as food, medical supplies, blankets, and heating items, which will be delivered to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent for distribution among impoverished families. Enditem
