Vietnam's foreign trade up 15.4 pct in 2024

HANOI, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam posted a foreign trade record of 786.29 billion U.S. dollars in 2024, up 15.4 percent year on year with a trade surplus of 24.77 billion dollars, according to the statistics released by the General Statistics Office on Monday.

Specifically, the export revenue stood at 405.53 billion dollars, up 14.3 percent, while the import revenue surged 16.7 percent to 380.76 billion dollars.

Eight items including electronics, computers, phones and components posted export revenue of over 10 billion dollars, accounting for 69 percent of the total.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang said improving the operational efficiency and the competitiveness of industrial production businesses would be one of the key measures to boost export growth in 2025.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vo Van Hung said that the ministry would continue to closely coordinate with other departments, including the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to promote agricultural, forestry and fishery export in the coming years. Enditem
