Lao gov't aims to tackle key challenges

VIENTIANE, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Lao government officials gathered for a two-day meeting to discuss pressing issues, and the progress of implementing socio-economic development plans for 2024 and new directions for 2025.

The meeting, held in Lao capital Vientiane from Monday to Tuesday, was presided over by Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, according to Lao national TV.

The two-day meeting aimed to build consensus on measures to ensure the success of the national socio-economic development agenda for 2025, while striving for excellence in all areas.

It also focused on evaluating progress in implementing various plans during 2024 and setting directions for 2025.

Key topics discussed included economic and financial challenges, mining and resource management, public security, social development, education reform, tourism development, land management, and energy solutions.

During the meeting, Sonexay highlighted the complexities of the international and regional landscape in 2025, marked by disputes and challenges and their impact on global economic recovery.

Sonexay also called for unity and detailed planning to achieve or exceed the goals outlined in the five-year National Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2021-2025. Enditem
