KABUL, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's central bank injected 15 million U.S. dollars on Wednesday into the local market to boost the national currency afghani.
"The bidders, including moneychangers and private banks, should deposit the necessary money in cash in the form of afghani in the central bank, Da Afghanistan Bank," the central bank said in a statement.
According to the statement, the bank requested that all eligible banks, foreign exchanges, and monetary service providers participate in the auction.
The Afghan central bank also auctioned 16 million dollars last month.
The bank, aiming to prevent the fall of afghani, has injected millions of U.S. dollars into the money-exchange market over the past three years. Enditem
