JAKARTA, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government has supplied 4 million vaccines, valued at 100 billion rupiahs (around 6 million U.S. dollars), to address the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

These FMD vaccines are being distributed across all regions in Indonesia through local governments.

"Farmers can obtain these vaccines for free from their local governments," stated Sudaryono, deputy minister of agriculture, on Tuesday.

Sudaryono also confirmed that the number of vaccines available is insufficient, as the outbreak in Indonesia has escalated to Alert Level 1.

Additionally, the government has urged farmers to keep their animals healthy and maintain clean enclosures to help reduce the spread of the disease. Enditem
