YANGON, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- About 3.4 million tourists visited the ancient city of Bagan in central Myanmar's Mandalay region in 2024, U Win Aung, deputy director of Bagan's Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, told Xinhua on Thursday.

The number of tourists visiting Bagan in 2024 has increased compared to the 2.4 million recorded in 2023, he said.

Bagan is known for its rich cultural heritage, thousands of ancient pagodas and stunning landscapes, the official added.

Good transportation, favorable weather, and the charm of Bagan attract visitors to the city, he said.

With thousands of ancient Buddhist pagodas, temples and monasteries, Bagan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the top tourist attractions in Myanmar. Enditem
