Cache of ammunition discovered in N. Afghanistan

FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Police have discovered a cache of ammunition containing a variety of ordnances including short-range missiles in northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, provincial police spokesman Ehsanullah Kamgar said Thursday.

The weaponry, which includes 15 pieces of BM-1 missiles, 36 pieces of RPG-7 shells and thousands of bullets of different kinds of assault rifles, was unearthed from Shuhada district a couple of days ago, the official added.

However, the official did not say if anyone was detained for keeping the cache illegally.

Police have also collected 13 pieces of different kinds of assault rifles from individuals in western Nimroz province recently. Enditem
